The Petrochemical Special Economic Zone is situated in
Mahshahr on the coast of Persian Gulf. The zone presently covers an area of 1700
hectares and it is envisaged to be expanded to 2500 hectares to accommodate new
development projects.
In view of its geographical and natural location and the special zone's
facilities that it enjoys, the zone was established to develop trade and
industrial activities, especially the petrochemical and its downstream
industries.
Having these advantages, the zone will attract new technologies and provide
employment opportunities.
Geographically, the zone has access to international waters via Bandar Imam
Khomeini and to the neighboring countries and Europe through the national
railway network.
Being located in the vicinity of the huge petrochemical complexes such as
BIPC, Razi and Farabi within Khuzestan province, the zone enjoys an strategic
passage in the hub of Iran's rich oil and gas fields.
This potential position facilitates access to the abundant raw material and
feedstock needed by the industrial plants under implementation in the zone.
